The first weeks of a new job are often some of the most exciting, and stressful, that an employee will face. Here are a few quick tips to come out of the gate strong in your next position:

Make Yourself Known: Don’t just introduce yourself; make it a point to repeatedly strike up conversations with your new colleagues. This will help you get to know your new coworkers as well as uncover areas of opportunity within the company that you may not have been aware of.

Ask Questions: Don’t be a pest, but ask plenty of questions in your first weeks on the job, not just about your position, but about how the company works, each team member’s role, how you may be of additional service, etc. Asking plenty of questions will ensure that you get a firm understanding of how the company operates and your role, in addition to showing company leadership that you are driven.

Add Value: Always be on the lookout for ways to serve the company beyond your daily responsibilities. Speak up in meetings, help colleagues who may be struggling with projects, show up early and make coffee for the office…the important thing is to constantly be on the lookout for ways to make yourself an indispensable member of the team.
